From May 18 to 20, 2025, 33 companies and over ten designers from Brazil will participate in the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) in New York, the premier contemporary furniture event in North America. Brazil’s participation, led by the Brazilian Furniture Project—an initiative by ABIMÓVEL (Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association) in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency)—underscores the country’s commitment to promoting design that integrates cultural identity, sustainability, innovation, and industrial competitiveness.
Brazil’s presence at the fair has grown with each edition. In 2024, the national pavilion stood out among 450 exhibitors, generating over 2,000 business contacts and facilitating deals exceeding USD 76.1 million. The high rate of new connections (over 90%) demonstrated the international market’s growing interest in Brazilian design, which combines aesthetic originality, functionality, and a strong commitment to sustainable production.
This year, Brazil returns to ICFF with renewed vigor, presenting the North American market with a diverse delegation that includes major industry names, boutique brands, and collaborations between designers and manufacturers.
In addition to exclusive brand exhibition spaces, Brazil will once again present the “Design + Industry” exhibition, a showcase of creative connections between design professionals and furniture companies from various regions of the country. Curated by Liana Tessler, the exhibition features pieces developed through the program of the same name, also led by the Brazilian Furniture Project, offering solutions that explore Brazilian identity in a sophisticated and conscious manner—whether through the use of local and environmentally appropriate materials, mastery of woodworking techniques, or contemporary interpretations of cultural traditions.
Both spaces feature scenography designed by Estojo.
ICFF 2025 Trade Mission
The Trade Mission emphasizes the strategic dimension of Brazil’s participation, promoting business rounds between national brands and 20 invited international buyers from countries including the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
The program begins with business rounds at the Brazilian Consulate General in New York on May 15 and 16, continuing throughout the week during the fair, creating an environment conducive to experience exchange, business generation, and strengthening commercial relationships.
According to Cândida Cervieri, Executive Director of ABIMÓVEL, “ICFF represents more than an international showcase; it serves as a platform for affirming Brazilian furniture design with national identity and global language, where we demonstrate our ability to combine innovation and aesthetic sensitivity with production viability and socio-environmental responsibility.”
She also highlights the importance of bringing numerous companies to the United States and strengthening regional ties amid a sensitive global geopolitical moment: “Presenting such a significant delegation at ICFF 2025 reaffirms the role of industry and design as diplomatic and economic bridges. Even though the international scenario presents challenges, we believe in the power of proximity, cooperation, and the value Brazil offers through a modern, sustainable, and creative industry. Brazilian design has authenticity and soul—and this genuinely interests mature markets like North America.”
NYCxDESIGN – New York Design Week 2025
ICFF is part of the official NYCxDESIGN – New York Design Week agenda, expanding the reach of the Brazilian delegation among architects, designers, buyers, curators, and specialized journalists. Beyond visibility, it’s about occupying a space of dialogue and influence on the global stage.
ABIMÓVEL and ApexBrasil emphasize that Brazilian Furniture is open to the participation of new companies, designers, and partners in the furniture and components production chain. The initiative offers continuous technical, intelligence, and commercial support, aiming to consolidate Brazil as one of the world’s leading hubs of sustainable design and innovation.
