After a one-year pause, the global furniture industry is set to reunite at IMM Cologne, taking place January 20–23, 2026, in Cologne, Germany. The upcoming edition marks the return of the fair—and with it, the renewed presence of the Brazilian Furniture Project, an initiative led by ABIMÓVEL (Brazilian Furniture Industry Association) in partnership with ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
For 2026, Brazil’s participation will unfold across three complementary fronts: the exhibition of Brazilian companies in exclusive project booths; and the IMM Cologne 2026 Trade Mission, offered in two formats — one combining business matchmaking with the presentation of a flagship product from the brands, and another focused exclusively on business rounds, involving other companies. Altogether, 12 participants will take part in the fair.

A strategic return after a planned hiatus
The cancellation of the 2025 edition, announced by Koelnmesse and German industry associations, reflected the challenging landscape in Europe, which faced a downturn in demand and a restructuring of sector events. Now, in 2026, IMM Cologne comes back with a sharper focus on business, innovation, and sustainability — priorities that also guide the Brazilian industry’s international strategy.
Brazil arrives at the fair reaffirming its commitment to industry-driven design, social and environmental responsibility, and the expansion of its global presence, fostering connections between national manufacturers and buyers from key markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
IMM Cologne is recognized as one of the leading platforms for business and trends in the furniture sector, bringing together brands from more than 40 countries and qualified buyers from around the world. In 2024, the activities promoted through the Brazilian Project generated over USD 35 million in immediate and forecasted business for the Brazilian industry, reinforcing the country’s relevance on the global stage.

Brazilian Furniture Project
The Brazilian Furniture Project is a joint initiative by ABIMÓVEL and ApexBrasil to expand the international presence of the Brazilian furniture industry through strategic actions focused on sustainability, competitiveness, innovation, and global positioning. Currently, around 175 companies take part in the project.
In its 2025–2026 cycle, the project operates through two complementary verticals. The first focuses on finished furniture, bringing together manufacturers and designers that represent the originality, quality, and identity of Brazilian furniture. The second focuses on industry suppliers, including companies producing components, machinery, inputs, and technologies, positioning Brazil as a comprehensive solutions partner for the global furniture industry — from raw materials to the finished product.
This integrated approach broadens the sector’s global reach, diversifies markets, and strengthens the Brazil brand as a competitive player in the international arena. Companies interested in joining the project can visit brazilianfurniture.org.br.
