Follow the Brazilian Furniture Project agenda in New York

09/11/2021

Continuing our journey to the resumption of the face-to-face format of the major events in the world furniture calendar, the Brazilian Furniture Sectoral Project is heading to one of the most vibrant and creative places on the planet. An initiative of ABIMÓVEL - The Brazilian Furniture Manufacturers Association and Apex-Brasil - The Brazilian Trade and Investments Promotion Agency, the project is taking over 20 brands and various Brazilian designers to New York, in the United States.

Following the success achieved in the exhibitions and trade missions held in recent months at High Point Market, also in the US, and at the Milan Design Week, in Italy, the current mission counts on the participation of important Brazilian companies in the long-awaited ICFF - The International Contemporary Furniture Fair — which takes place from November 14 to 15 in New York — and also with an exclusive exhibition between the next 11th and the 14th in one of the most popular design districts in the city. See more details below.

Three Brazilian brands on display at ICFF New York

Considered the largest platform in North America for the exhibition of contemporary furniture, with an emphasis on originality and sustainability, ICFF traditionally offers a wide range of furniture and decor options for residential, corporate and hospitality environments. Joining efforts this year with WantedDesign Manhattan, both bring together around 300 brands from at least 25 countries. Among the public are shopkeepers, architects, interior designers, retailers, suppliers, specifiers and the press from around the world.

Between the Brazilian Furniture partner companies, Ornare, Tidelli and Uultis will be the ones exhibiting at ICFF 2021. It is fair to highlight that these three brands not only exhibited in the special edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano this year, but also attracted the attention of the media and international buyers, taking the originality of our design with the sustainability and quality of the Brazilian industry even further.

Espaço Brasil NY

Making the most of the ICFF occasion, ABIMÓVEL and Apex-Brasil will also organize the “Espaço Brasil in New York”. The event, which will be conceived as an exhibition, occupies an area of ??200 m² in SoHo, one of the main design districts in the city.

Following the concept presented at the Fuorisalone 2021 circuit, with the exhibition “Brazil - Design in Motion”, which caught the attention of the public at the Milan Design Week, the space is signed by the Moreira do Valle office, which is also responsible for the curatorship and selection of the pieces.

The goal is to transform the location into Brazil's home in New York between November 11 and 14, aiming to facilitate and optimize the relationship of Brazilian companies and designers with the global market, especially North-American buyers, and the international press. Thus, highlighting the authenticity of our industry and professionals, as well as wood and other typically Brazilian materials, with the exhibition of more than 40 pieces from at least 20 companies, as well as several designers linked to Brazil Design + Industry, a program that connects manufacturers and designers in the furniture field through the Brazilian Furniture Project.

It is noteworthy, in fact, that the United States is the main importer of Brazilian furniture in the world, receiving around 35% of national exports in the sector, and there is still much more room for business expansion.

Image Project

The organizers of the Brazilian Furniture Project are also preparing a special activity, in which they will welcome journalists and influencers from the United States and other important countries in North America, in an agenda that includes visits to the Brazilian exhibitions, to business roundtables, and a reception with authorities and business people.

On the occasion, besides interacting and exchanging valuable insights about the world of furniture, architecture, design and decoration, these communicators will be able to learn about new products, as well as having access to originally Brazilian raw materials, techniques and sustainability concepts, receiving a synthesis of the best of what the country has to offer in terms of contemporary furniture.
