At this phase, the results of the international and national diagnosis and the diagnosis for companies in the project are presented
The fourth phase of the Brazilian Furniture Sustainability Project, held in partnership with the Center for Sustainability Studies (GVces) of the Business Administration School of Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV-EAESP), is under development. The seminars to present the results achieved in the previous phases are scheduled for the units of Bento Gonçalves, Arapongas, Mirassol, Chapecó and São Bento do Sul.
At this phase, which continues until the first quarter of 2014, the results of the international and national diagnosis and the diagnosis for the companies in the project are presented, aiming to engage them in the development of sustainability action plans.
The purpose of the international diagnosis is to map sustainability standards adopted in the international furniture market, covering social and environmental seals and certifications for the furniture industry; the technical barriers to the furniture imports in priority countries and their technical standards, in addition to the experiences of the domestic furniture industry.
The national diagnosis, on the other hand, sought to map the sustainability standards adopted in the furniture industry chain in Brazil. This survey included the mapping of relevant public policies for the furniture industry and the technical standards and environmental certifications. The experiences of the domestic furniture industry were also analyzed here.
The earlier phase allowed us to diagnose companies in the Brazilian Furniture Project, through an online questionnaire available between August and September. Out of the 64 companies in the Project, during the survey period, 18 participated in this phase and make up the sample of the diagnosis.
